The 20th episode of the NHK TV drama series “Tora ni Tsubasa” (Monday – Saturday, 8:00 am, with a week-long review on Saturday), in which actress Sari Ito (29) is the heroine, was broadcast on the 26th. Let’s look back at the most talked about scenes.

This is the 110th morning drama with an original script written by Erika Yoshida, who also wrote the Kuniko Mukoda Award-winning NHK drama “Koi Senu Futari”. Based on Yoshiko Mibuchi, Japan’s first female lawyer, judge, and court president, this film depicts the life of Tomoko Inozume, Japan’s first woman to enter the legal world. This is Yoshida’s first script for a morning drama. This will be Ito’s second appearance in a morning drama since “Hiyokko” in the first half of 2017, and her first leading role.

In episode 20, the Inozume family is suddenly attacked by prosecutors, and Haru Inozume (Yuriko Ishida) is told that Naoto Inozume (Takashi Okabe) has been arrested for bribery. When Torako Inozume (Sari Ito) and her friends are at a loss as their house is searched for evidence, their lodger Yuzo Sada (Taiga Nakano) suggests that they put their legal knowledge to use. Torako and the others believe in their innocence and wait for their return, but Naoko’s arrest is just the beginning, and the situation worsens as a major corruption scandal, the Kyoa Incident, shakes the world.

Executives of Kyoa Spinning and other related companies, Ministry of Finance bureaucrats, and current ministers were arrested on a daily basis. The number is 16 people. The crime of bribery alleges that the illegally obtained profits were distributed to the political and business circles after it was known that Kyoa Boseki’s stock price would soar. Teito Bank conducted stock trading, and Naomata was accused of colluding with bank director Takai and others to bribe the bank.

The “Kyōa Incident” is believed to be modeled after the “Teijin Incident,” a suspected prison incident that occurred in 1934 (Showa 9) and caused the Saito Cabinet to resign en masse.
