“Monster Hunter” Jack in Toyohashi City had a huge amount of stuff! – GAME Watch

--

“CAPCOM TRIP TOKAI,” a large-scale tourism project between Central Japan Railway Company (JR Tokai) and Capcom, launched its third local project, “Let’s go for a hunt in Toyohashi!” on April 24th. The period is until July 31st.

In this project, the world of Capcom’s popular game series “Monster Hunter” will be recreated at various locations in Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture. Set in Toyohashi City, there will be a digital stamp rally inspired by the “Quest” from the series, and a tram fully wrapped with characters from the series.

Additionally, the entire city of Toyohashi will be eclipsed by Monster Hunter, with local specialty products sold in collaboration with Monster Hunter, and hotel plans featuring original Monster Hunter collaboration rooms.

At the media press tour held on April 23rd, the opening ceremony for this project was held, and Maki Goto, also known as “Gomaki”, who is famous for her love of “Monster Hunter”, also appeared as a special guest.

This time, I was able to cover the situation at “Monster Hunter” Jack in Toyohashi City, so I would like to introduce the contents.

What is “CAPCOM TRIP TOKAI”, a trip to meet your favorites?

First, I would like to briefly introduce the “CAPCOM TRIP TOKAI” that will be held this time.

“CAPCOM TRIP TOKAI” is one of the “Oshi Tabi” campaigns being developed by Central Japan Railway Company (hereinafter referred to as JR Tokai). “Oshi Travel” started with the idea of going to meet “favorites” such as artists and characters, and to once again create opportunities to go out and attend events that have been reduced due to the coronavirus. This time, “Oshi Tabi” collaborated with Capcom, and this “CAPCOM TRIP TOKAI” was born.

“Let’s go for a hunt in Toyohashi!” will be the third installment of “CAPCOM TRIP TOKAI.”

On April 23rd, the opening ceremony for “Let’s go hunting in Toyohashi!” was held in Toyohashi City. At the ceremony, entertainer Maki Goto, who is a huge fan of “Monster Hunter” and broadcasts her gameplay on her YouTube channel, appeared. Mr. Goto said, “When you come to the city, you get so excited that you want to go everywhere,” Goto said, referring to Toyohashi City’s “Monster Hunter” Jack.

In addition, at the ceremony, Toyohashi City Mayor Yoshitaka Asai and Airu demonstrated a digital stamp rally, and an unveiling ceremony for an object to be displayed in the JR Toyohashi Station concourse was held.

“Kapu Tabi Points” where you can also play the game “Kapu Tabi Quiz 100,” which can only be played while traveling on the Tokaido Shinkansen.

Before introducing the situation in Toyohashi City, I would like to first explain about “Kapu Tabi Points”.

“Kapu Tabi Points” is a new initiative created by JR Tokai in cooperation with Capcom. This measure was created to make traveling on the Shinkansen special and provide experiences that can be enjoyed during the journey.

The content itself is simple, and you can earn points by completing various missions set in “Kapu Tabi.” Depending on the number of points you obtain, your rank will increase from C to S, and by increasing your rank you can apply for a lottery to win luxurious prizes.

In this collaboration, the mission is the digital stamp rally “Toyohashi Quest”, and by clearing the quest, you can receive “Kapu Tabi Sticker” depending on the content on site.

You cannot exchange the Kapu Travel Sticker until you complete the first to fifth quests. After the 6th quest, you will receive one sticker for each quest you clear. You can get 10 coins by completing all quests.

Most of the missions are basically done while traveling, but there is one called “Kapu Travel Quiz 100” that can only be completed while the Shinkansen is running. This is a series of quizzes about Capcom’s past games and characters, and there are all kinds of quizzes related to Capcom, from simple to difficult questions. There are 10 questions per play, and you can play up to 5 times a day.

If you clear the mission of “CAPCOM TRIP TOKAI 100”, you can get a bonus voucher for an original “CAPCOM TRIP TOKAI” eco bag. By presenting this voucher at the Toyohashi Tourist Information Center, you will receive a “CAPCOM TRIP TOKAI” original eco bag.

The world of Monster Hunter starts from Toyohashi Station

Now, let’s take a look at Toyohashi. The moment you get off the Shinkansen and pass through the ticket gate at Toyohashi Station, Toyohashi’s “Monster Hunter” jack begins.

The first thing that jumps out at you is the super large image panel displayed in front of the ticket gate. The 20th anniversary logo of “Monster Hunter” is drawn on it, and right next to it is a collaboration panel with two Airou characters on it that says, “Let’s go on a hunt to Toyohashi!”

The starting position of the digital stamp rally “Toyohashi Quest” that is eligible for “Kapu Tabi Points” is from here, and by reading the two-dimensional barcode on the quest start panel at the end, you can get “Quest No. 1”. ” can be achieved.

Additionally, the Toyohashi Tourist Information Center is on the right hand side after exiting the Shinkansen ticket gate. In addition to souvenirs from Toyohashi City, you can also purchase local specialty “Monster Hunter” collaboration products here. There are quite a few types, so I’ll introduce them all later.

Inside the station, there are quest boards with the contents of the “Toyohashi Quest” written on them, as well as special banners that read “Let’s go hunting in Toyohashi!” hung from the ceiling.

Furthermore, in the center of the station there is an object depicting Airu wearing the sash of the tourism ambassador. Behind that, there is a panel with a collaboration illustration drawn especially for this collaboration, and a display showing footage of Monster Hunter.

Many people stopped to take pictures of Airu, saying how cute she looked.

Monster Hunter appears everywhere in the city, from streetcars to shopping streets.

Immediately after exiting the station, there is a platform for the tram operated by Toyohashi Railway. During the collaboration period, this tram will be transformed into a Monster Hunter version and traverse the city. During the period, Toyohashi Railway will also be selling original one-day unlimited ride tickets (one-day all-you-can-ride tickets for city lines, one-day all-you-can-ride tickets for Ikomai Toyohashi Electric Railway and buses).

Banners depicting the monsters that appear in Monster Hunter and collaboration banners are set up in Tokiwa Dori, a shopping street located right near the station.

In addition, “Monster Hunter” items are scattered throughout Toyohashi City, including a costume display of past “Monster Hunter” receptionists and a large balloon display of Jin Ogre.

This time, due to time constraints, I wasn’t able to visit all the spots and collaboration items, but I was still able to see this much “Monster Hunter” in Toyohashi. If time allowed, I would definitely like to try Toyohashi’s famous gourmet dishes such as ankake spa and curry udon.

Toyohashi is home to Yuraku Seika’s Toyohashi Yume Factory, which is famous for its “All-You-Can-Stuff Black Thunder” store directly managed by the Black Thunder Factory. If you are a “Monster Hunter” fan, why not take this opportunity to visit Toyohashi and enjoy both “Monster Hunter” and Toyohashi?
