[ニューヨーク 25日 ロイター] – The New York State Supreme Court on the 25th overturned the 23-year prison sentence handed down in 2020 for the sexual assault case of former Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein (72).
The case, which sparked the “ MeToo ” movement in which many women, including actors, have come forward with accusations of sexual assault, is expected to be retried.
The Supreme Court decided to overturn the verdict, citing problems with the lower court’s procedure for admitting the victim testimony of the accuser, who was not the subject of the indictment.
Weinstein will not be released because he was sentenced to 16 years in prison for another sexual assault case in California.
The inmate co-founded the movie studio Miramax, which produced such hits as “Shakespeare in Love” and “Pulp Fiction.”
