The program event “Audrey’s All Night Nippon in Tokyo Dome” was held in February to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the start of broadcasting of Nippon Broadcasting System’s “Audrey’s All Night Nippon (ANN)” (every Saturday at 1:00 a.m.).

According to the station, there were 53,000 people at Tokyo Dome, 52,000 people at the live viewing held at 201 venues including movie theaters in 47 prefectures (*200 movie theaters + LINE CUBE SHIBUYA), and 52,000 people at the online live streaming. It was a big event, with 55,000 people watching and a total of 160,000 people excited.

■Reason for award
“Audrey’s All Night Nippon” has been running for 15 years. The program event in February of this year mobilized 53,000 people to Tokyo Dome, and the venue, live viewing, and live streaming attracted 160,000 people, setting a record in radio history. As a result, we are creating a social phenomenon that allows radio to evolve as a culture.

Its influence was not limited to audience ratings, number of listeners, and number of sponsors, but also inspired many personalities, greatly increasing interest in radio among the younger generation.

Masayasu Wakabayashi regards this program as his masterpiece, approaches it with sincerity, and has garnered deep sympathy with his heartfelt and forgiving talk. The way Toshiaki Kasuga deftly receives the message and makes people laugh is a perfect combination.

A manzai duo consisting of Masayasu Wakabayashi, born in Tokyo in 1978, and Toshiaki Kasuga, born in Saitama in 1979. They met at Nihon University Daini Junior and Senior High School, where they were both enrolled. The duo was formed in April 2000. The original name of the duo was “Nice Middle”, and from April 2005, the name of the duo was changed to “Audrey”. In 2008, he made it to the finals of “M-1 Grand Prix 2008″ from the repechage match and made it to the big break. “Audrey’s All Night Nippon”, which started in 2009, is extremely popular.
