“Blue Rock the Movie -EPISODE Nagi-” Special Feature | What is the “ego” held by JUNON x RYUHEI of BE:FIRST?

--

“Blue Rock the Movie -EPISODE Nagi-”, which is a film adaptation of the comic by the original author Muneyuki Kinjo, the manga author Kota Sannomiya, and the character designer Yusuke Nomura, is currently being screened nationwide. Seishiro Nagi, the other main character after Seiichi Kiyoshi of “Blue Rock”, participates in the “Blue Rock (Blue Prison)” project to train the world’s best strikers with his partner Reio Mikage. “Genius” only takes shape when someone discovers it. There, Nagi clashes with rivals such as Kiyoshi, Haraku Kai, and Itoshi Rin, and awakens to her own “ego” and awakens as a genius.

In the movie Natalie, we conducted an interview with BE:FIRST’s JUNON and RYUHEI, who are fans of “Blue Rock”. Has their relationship changed since they met at the audition until now? In addition to the appeal of the original work and the highlights of the movie version, they also talked about their egos as artists, saying, “We insisted that we wanted to be more involved in music production,” and “We’re going to make the most of what’s inside of us.” I received it.

RYUHEIHow much time can we talk today?

──Does that mean you have something you want to talk about about the movie so much that you’re worried about whether you have enough time?

RYUHEIyes!

JUNON(lol). But I understand. I wonder if I have enough time….

──I’m glad to hear that you were so absorbed in watching it. The two of you are fans of “Blue Rock” from the beginning.

JUNONI watched the anime after it was distributed, and I was curious about what would happen next, so I bought the original book. I haven’t read all the volumes yet.

RYUHEII first encountered (the original work) two or three years ago. I still remember it clearly. I wanted to read some interesting manga, so I casually went to a bookstore. When I buy a manga, I always make it a point to read up to volume 3 first. If you read up to volume 3, you’ll understand how interesting it is. So when I read “Blue Rock” I couldn’t stop. Even now, I always go to the bookstore to buy the latest edition on its release date.

──What was it about “Blue Rock” that attracted you so much?

JUNONI thought it depicted the environment necessary to promote soccer. There are some depictions that are unrealistic, but it made me think, “If we go this far, we might end up with a really good striker.” Japanese people in particular are looking for strikers with decisive power. I thought this was a story written by someone who has a firm grasp of the current situation.

RYUHEIThere are many professional players who are into “Blue Rock,” and it has a wide fan base. I was drawn to the description of the play. In a 90-minute soccer match, the moment of a goal only lasts for a moment, right? He was really good at capturing and drawing that moment, and I was shocked. Also, I think the physical characteristics of each character are clearly depicted.

──I see. The movie version depicts the main story in “Blue Rock” from the perspectives of Nagi and Reio. After watching it, can you honestly tell me what you thought?

JUNONI was glad that the character’s feelings were portrayed, which we didn’t understand in the main story. When Nagi said she wanted to join Kiyoshi’s team, I guess that’s what she was thinking deep in her heart. Seeing it as a video was very moving.

RYUHEIYeah. Nagi is a character who steadily rises through the ranks in the main story, but it was great to learn more about his feelings and how he approaches soccer, and I thought that was the part I wanted to see the most. Not only does she have talent, but she also proves to be an independent character who can solve problems on her own. That’s why he’s so strong as a striker. Also, in the first scene where they decide to enter the Blue Rock (Blue Prison), everyone runs away at once, but Nagi and Reio are the last to stay. That part wasn’t in the main story.

JUNONYeah, yeah, there wasn’t.

RYUHEII thought it was an interesting scene because it was in this movie. Nagi, Reio, and Eshin (Jinpachi) each have different feelings. If you think about it, Reio is saying the opposite of the ego that Eshin talks about, “He should be happy about his own goal and live only for that moment. He’s a striker, right?” But. But it was also a scene where I could feel the friendship between the two, and I realized that this was Nagi and Reio’s soccer. Also, when Team Z comes out, I feel like I’m at home…

JUNONYeah. It was refreshing to see Team Z from the opposite perspective. In the main story, Team V’s Nagi and Reio are depicted as strong enemies of Team Z, but from Team V’s perspective, Team Z appears to be stronger.

RYUHEII think Team Z’s strength was emphasized more than the main story, and as someone who has been watching Team Z for a long time, I was happy to see their charm and strength portrayed.

──“Blue Rock” has many charming and unique characters, but are there any characters that the two of you particularly like?

JUNONI don’t have anyone in particular. I’m just so jealous of Nagi. Because he originally had such physical ability, and within six months of starting to play soccer, he was able to reach this level. I hadn’t done anything until then!

RYUHEICertainly (laughs).

JUNONAlso, I really like Hachiraku’s play style.

RYUHEIThat kind of mindset that is strong when it comes to the performance of Hiraku is a good match for “Blue Rock” (Blue Prison). I want it when I perform live too. But you get that feeling sometimes when you’re performing, right?

JUNONIt’s like you’re in the zone and you don’t feel tired anymore. There was also a time when I was playing soccer in a club, and I can feel it even in my performances. “Blue Rock” clearly depicts that moment.

──RYUHEI, if you had to name a character that you particularly like, which one would you say?

RYUHEIDon’t worry, what should I do… Maybe Nagi or (Michael) Kaiser. Kaiser has a good spirit and is simply strong. I think it’s amazing that he has abilities that no one else has. The stylish atmosphere and incendiary tone are also interesting.

──By the way, when JUNON-san dyed his hair white and blue, there was a rumor that “Maybe it was due to Kaiser?”…

JUNONI’ve been told this before. But it’s just a coincidence! On the other hand, Kaiser was imitating me? That’s what I was thinking (lol).

──Thank you for telling me the truth (lol). Reio discovers Nagi’s talent, boosts his morale, and pursues his big dreams together, but eventually Nagi discovers the real thrill of soccer and awakens to his ego, and their relationship changes. Do you feel any sympathy for that kind of relationship?

RYUHEII think that since Reo is also a genius, if he were a normal person, he would definitely just follow him. It’s a relationship that is possible because Nagi has a talent that surpasses Reio’s, and I think it’s a very special relationship.

JUNONNagi uses different names such as “BOSS” and “Reio”. I think they call him “BOSS” only when he plays according to Reio, and when he acts according to his own will, he calls him “Reio”. That difference is also interesting.
