The 2024 spring festival “Tokushima Castle Awa Odori” (sponsored by Tokushima Shimbun) has begun in the area of ​​Tokushima Central Park, the home of the Hachisuka family. The park is surrounded by fresh greenery, and the dancers put on a colorful performance, attracting a large number of families. Free admission until 4pm.

The event began at 10 a.m. with a joint dance performance by the Tokushima Branch of the Tokushima Prefecture Awa Odori Association. Approximately 1,700 dancers from around the prefecture and outside the prefecture will perform in 40 dance series at the event, performing wild dances full of enthusiasm at three venues: Ohanami Square, Washinomon Square, and Square in front of Hachisuka Kamasa Statue. The finale, which begins at 4 p.m., is the Shiroyama Odori dance in which dancers and spectators parade together. Let’s all the audience enjoy Tokushima’s traditional culture.

At the venue, many kitchen trucks based in the prefecture will also be lined up. There are plenty of dishes using local ingredients and rare sweets. Please enjoy the second day of Golden Week filled with dance and food.
