Yamanashi’s adventure facility “FUJI GATEWAY” will hold the Christmas market “LIGHT UP MARKET” on December 16th (Sat), 17th (Sun), 23rd (Sat), 2023. The event will be held over four days starting on the 24th (Sunday).
First Christmas market held at Fuji Gateway in Yamanashi
Located at the gateway to the northern foothills of Fuji, Fuji Gateway is an experiential adventure facility where you can fully enjoy the great outdoors through a variety of activities. The “Light-up Market” will be held for the first time in the run-up to Christmas, and is a Christmas market where you can enjoy lights, music, and outdoor fun, with a spectacular view of Mt. Fuji in the background.
Christmas shopping around the bonfire
Inside the venue, which is lit up in Christmas style, Christmas-style gourmet foods such as clam chowder and meat pies, miscellaneous goods such as ornaments, and fashion items will be sold. Enjoy special shopping unique to the Christmas season while sitting around a warm bonfire.
400 lanterns illuminating the base of Mt. Fuji
Additionally, as one of the main events, “Lantern Light-up ~Let’s light up the Christmas night sky~” will be held. Approximately 400 lanterns will be released into the clear, star-filled sky at an altitude of 1,000 meters, accompanied by music by Yamanashi-based singer-songwriter Miyako Irikura. A fantastic scene unfolds, with warm light engulfing the great nature at the foot of Mt. Fuji.
Workshops and Christmas fairs too
In addition, there are a variety of other events planned, including workshops where you can experience making Christmas ornaments using pine cones and pine needles, and various Christmas fairs that families with children can also enjoy.
