The Okinawa Prefecture Industrial Drone Association (Kadena Town) was recently launched with the aim of utilizing drones in various fields such as disasters and logistics operations. Shintaro Yaka, the representative director, said, “We want to expand operations while cooperating with the government and private companies.” The association held a press conference on the 23rd at the Prefectural Press Club in Naha City.
The association currently has 10 member companies in fields such as surveying, agriculture, and civil engineering, and five pilots who operate drones. In addition to being used in times of disaster and disaster prevention, such as securing evacuation routes, understanding traffic jams, and locating isolated residents, the system is expected to have a wide range of uses, including warning against poachers and transporting supplies during bad weather.
In the future, the company hopes to advance collaborative agreements with local governments, and will also focus on human resource development. Tsuyoshi Gibu, who serves as an advisor, said, “We want to create a system that can be used effectively in a wide range of fields.” For inquiries, please contact the association at 098 (923) 4342.
