[Okinawa]Okinawa Children’s Country in Okinawa City announced on the 24th that two baby jaguars were born on March 27th. The exhibit will not be on display for a while as her mother, Luna, concentrates on raising her child. At the press conference, it was announced that from May 3rd, when the Okinawa Children’s Country Festival 2024 will be held, admission will be free for children 15 and under.

Both the mother and baby Jaguar are settled down now. When the two cubs were weighed for the first time on the 3rd of this month, they were 1.05 kg and 1.06 kg, and they were growing steadily, and they are living together in Luna’s bedroom.

Luna gave birth to a baby in August 2023, but he died in an accident while raising the baby. This is the second baby jaguar born at the zoo. Based on her experience at that time, she now creates a place for her baby in her bedroom and takes precautions against accidents by reducing the chances of her moving around. There are 25 jaguars in captivity at zoos in Japan, including the newly born baby.

The current admission fee for Okinawa Kodomo no Kuni is 200 yen for junior high and high school students and 100 yen for elementary school students aged 4 and over, but starting May 3, admission will be free for children 15 and under. For high school students, the fee remains unchanged at 200 yen.
