On the 22nd, the Okinawa Police Station rescued a brown tortoise, approximately 50 centimeters long and weighing approximately 21 kilograms, that had been wandering around Okinawa City. Police officers were intrigued by the giant turtle’s unusual visitor, but one day later on the 23rd, the owner showed up and the turtle was safely handed over.

“There’s a tortoise walking. It’s huge!” Shortly after midnight on the 22nd, a driver who was delivering food made a report to the Okinawa police station. When two police officers arrived at the scene on a city road in Yaeshima, the turtle turned its back like a rock and attempted to flee in the direction of Kamara. Police officers quickly grabbed him by the sides and secured him. During interrogation, he only said “fushu, fushu” and his name, age, and address were unknown. The turtle was thought to be a stray turtle and was taken into custody at the police station.

Surrounded by many police officers and even given cabbage from the staff cafeteria, he becomes an idol.

Around 10:30 a.m. on the 23rd, the dog’s owner came to the police station after watching the news, and the incident was quickly resolved. Deputy Police Chief Takashi Tonouchi seemed relieved, saying, “I’m glad I was able to meet my family.”
