●About “TCC Metasequoia and Horse Forest”

●Theme: “Coexistence of horses, nature, and the local community”
“Metasequoia Trees” is one of Shiga Prefecture’s leading tourist destinations, visited by 300,000 people a year.
This project started with a proposal that we would like to do something that would benefit the community by having horses here, and that we would like to work together to develop the town.

To promote agriculture, use horse manure compost and prevent damage caused by horses.
To promote tourism, add value to the landscape, attract more visitors through horse-drawn carriage and horseback riding activities, and interact with local children.
Of course, there is also the social aspect of creating a place for retired racehorses.

Horse carriages run along the trees, and you can enjoy cafe time with the horses under the Metasequoia forest, take photos, and interact with them.
Through coexistence with nature and the local community, I would like to discuss with many people the way horses should be and how they should work.
This is a new initiative that only TCC Japan, which engages in social activities with horses as partners, can do.

In addition, with the aim of collaborating with local agriculture through the use of horse manure compost, we have created a compost field where horse manure will be fermented and composted, as well as a chestnut field and orchard in the surrounding area, as well as a new herb garden. We will also collaborate with BafunYasai TCC CAFE.

●About pre-sales

“TCC Metasequoia and Horse Forest” pre-sales will begin on April 27th (Saturday), just as Golden Week begins.

As the entire construction is scheduled for completion in November 2024, we are unable to provide all services yet, but we will be limiting the menu to “horse walks” and “petting/feeding.” We are ready to welcome you.
We are also practicing daily for the operation of the tree-lined horse carriages, with the aim of starting the operation in the second half of Golden Week.

The horses have already been stabled and are preparing, but we plan to continue to add more friends.

[Use of funds]
Of the costs associated with the establishment of “Metasequoia and Horse Forest”, the initial costs were mainly due to the soaring costs of materials such as exercise fields, grazing land, carriage road maintenance, pasture fences, compost fields, heavy machinery, carriage sheds, and walking machines. The funds will be used to cover expenses related to horse exercise and activities that are not sufficient in the budget.

[Planned schedule]
We will begin operations in three stages in accordance with the progress of construction.
December 2023: Stable construction begins
End of March 2024: Stables completed
From April 2024: Construction of walking machines, exercise fields, grazing land, carriage roads, installation of pasture fences, compost field, etc. begins
