2020 University of Tsukuba Science and Technology Week Kids University will be held
On Sunday, April 21st, we held the Science and Technology Week event “University of Tsukuba Kids University.” This event is full of special classes, experiential tours, science experiment classes, living creature observations, and more, with the aim of “experiencing the fun of science and the charm of university.” Due to an increase in the number of events planned from last year, more children than usual visited and enjoyed the event.

Special class: Well done! Happily! Stay healthy! How to engage in e-sports (Assistant Professor Takashi Matsui, Department of Physical Education)
As a university lecture experience, we held a special class in a staircase classroom where university students were actually taking lectures. Assistant Professor Matsui gave a lecture on the differences between games that are familiar to children and e-sports, and everyone thought about ways to play well, have fun, and stay healthy.
Limited release: University of Tsukuba underground exploration tour 2024
There is an underground tunnel with a total length of about 14 km that runs under the university, and has electricity and water running through it. Wearing a helmet, we explored the underground tunnels that support the university’s education and research, which are normally only partially accessible to university students.

At the university’s laboratory, we observed an experiment in which a substance that is the basis of a drug glows, an experiment in which the color of purple cabbage broth was changed, and an observation of the luminescence phenomenon of fireflies.
Bee Sensei’s Bug Exploration/Guided Plant Plant Tour “Green Walk”
The students went around the campus of the University of Tsukuba, which is rich in nature, with their teachers, catching insects and receiving explanations about plants.
