“Go to Yuruyama!” introduces mountains with an altitude of around 1000m.
Caster Imamura will take on the challenge of climbing Yuruyama in the Tokai-Hokuriku area, which is easy to climb even for beginners. The mountain I climbed this time is 650m high in Inabe City, Mie Prefecture.Maruyama“is. We aim for the mountaintop while looking for rare flowers that begin to bloom in spring.
Maruyama with an altitude of 650m
Approximately 30 minutes from the Daian Interchange on the Tokai Kanjo Expressway.
This time we will be climbing Mt. Maruyama, which has an altitude of 650m. In recent years, the mountain trail has been improved, making it easier to walk and attracting many climbers.
Our guide was Katsumi Kanamaru, a mountaineer and mountain writer living in Mie Prefecture. He has his own channel on his video site, where he distributes videos of the mountains in Mie that he has taken himself.
What do you think of the highlights of this mountain?
It is known as a mountain where rare flowers bloom, and even today there are several endangered species. I’m also sure we’ll be able to see some wild birds, so I brought binoculars with me today, so let’s take a closer look.
Approximately 220m above sea levelMagota ridge(Magotaone) Departing from the trailhead. We aim for the mountaintop while looking for rare flowers that begin to bloom in spring.
At the beginning of the climb, you will go through a cedar forest.
Then, Mr. Kanemaru suddenly starts looking at something through binoculars.
That’s beautiful, isn’t it?
which one? Ah, that green one…
Look through binoculars. When observing things far away, you can observe not only wild birds but also plants like these.thisKibushiIt’s called.
Kibushi produces yellow-green flowers in grape-like clusters. The fruit was once used as a tooth-black dye.
This is a flower. There are a lot of fruit-like things in a row, and it’s quite noticeable.
Walk along the limestone trail
Once you reach the middle of the mountain, the scenery changes completely.
Oh amazing. A rock. It looks like it’s going up towards the sky.
There’s a sense of freedom. This is the essence of mountain climbing.
Encounter endangered species of flowers
Approximately 45 minutes from the trailhead.Walking along a rugged limestone mountain path
Ah! It was there.thisendangered speciesis not it.
LiliaceaeHirohanoamana.Because it is similar to tulips, which belong to the same family of lilies.Japanese tulipAlso called.
There is a white stripe in the middle of the leaf, but normal flaxseed plants do not have a stripe in the middle. Since it has a little width, it is called Hirohanoamana.
moreover…
Oh, this is blooming. I thought it was a little early in the season, but it’s blooming now.
What Mr. Kanamaru found wasKatakuriis.
When I went up there, it was early April, so there were only a few flowers in bloom, but I was told that the best time to see them would be after this.
I think there are some buds, but I think the flowers have opened because the weather was nice yesterday and today. The temperature is rising.
Wild birds seen up close
Flowers are not the only attraction of this mountain.
Yellow tit, perched over there.
Perched on a tree branch was a wild bird about 14 centimeters long.Parrot titis. It has a black head and a reddish-brown belly.
It was so big that it could be seen with the naked eye.
You could see it perfectly even with binoculars. A bird with contrasting brown, black, and white colors.
Look to the right.
The altitude gradually rises, and you can see a panoramic view of Ise Bay.
Oh, that’s true. It’s amazing because there’s nothing blocking it.
At that moment, the staff noticed something in a nearby tree.
What I found was a type of woodpecker,Black woodpeckerwas.
It was hitting a tree.
It’s a woodpecker.
With a body length of about 15 centimeters, it is known as the smallest woodpecker in Japan.
There are all kinds of birds.
Approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes from the trailhead.
While observing flowers and wild birds, we quickly reached the top of the mountain.
Maruyama summit, 650m above sea level. (Today’s goal) We reached the top of the mountain.
Finally. We arrived. arrival!
There are many things to see at the top of this mountain. The rarest flower on this mountainIt is said that it is blooming.
It was there. This one.
Are they blooming downwards?
Yes, this one blooms downward.
The rare flower is from the lily family.Minoko fritillaryis.
In Mie Prefecture,Ranked at extremely high risk of extinctionIt has been.
In Mie Prefecture, there are only a few here and Mt. Nyudogatake, making it a truly rare plant. That’s why many people aim for this ridge.
I had heard that today’s mountain was 650m above sea level, so I thought it would be a fairly easy mountain to climb, but it turned out to be very steep and difficult. However, I like limestone mountains and don’t they feel extraordinary? I thought it was a great way to climb a mountain because it wasn’t a view you would normally see, so you really felt like you were in a different place than usual.
That may be why there are so many rare flowers.
It took about two and a half hours to descend the mountain.
The walking distance was approximately 4 km.
The calories burned were equivalent to 2.5 cups of rice.
・Kibushi:It was once used as a tooth-black dye.
・Hirohanoamana: Endangered IB (Mie)
・Katakuri:Near endangered species (Mie)
