The Japan Remote Islands Center (Public Interest Incorporated Foundation) has published a revised version (2nd edition) of the complete map of Japan’s islands, “Shima-zu.” “Shima-zu” is a basic map of the “Island Country” that lists inhabited and uninhabited islands from Hokkaido to Okinawa, and is a map that allows you to see all of Japan’s islands in one view. The first edition was published in 2011, and due to its popularity, it was sold out for a long time.

The revised version of “Shima-zu” lists all the inhabited islands and major uninhabited islands in Japan that were featured in the new edition of Japan’s island guide “SHIMADAS” (2019), and the number of islands listed is There are now approximately 1,750 islands, an increase of 750 from the first edition.

The front side is an overall map at a scale of 1:5 million, the back side is a partial view at a scale of 1:950,000, and an enlarged view at a scale of 1:400,000, and a list of all island names is included as an appendix.
