The musical “Disney Winnie the Pooh” will make its Japan premiere on the 27th, starting with a performance at Nihonbashi Mitsui Hall in Tokyo. Prior to this, a general production was held at the same location on the 26th, where Jonathan Rockefeller, who is in charge of the script and director, the characters appearing, and actor Makoto Fukuo, who serves as the ambassador, gave stage greetings to the press.

This production is a musical based on AA Milne’s original “Winnie the Pooh” and Disney’s animated feature film, and features a production in which actors actually control life-sized puppets. It has been performed in New York, London, Chicago, Australia, and other locations, and became a huge hit around the world.

This is the first performance in Japan. The screenplay and direction are by Jonathan Rockefeller, who has won acclaim for his stage adaptations of “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” and “Paddington,” and the roles of Winnie the Pooh are played by Tatsuo Yokoyama, Rikuya Yoda, and Daiki Iwata. There will be a rich cast.

Mr. Rockefeller said, “Although ‘Winnie the Pooh’ has a history of over 100 years, this is the first musical in which Pooh is the main character,” adding, “In other words, this is the first time you have seen this production.” He told his Japanese fans, “The stories are full of stories that make you feel the warmth of friendship.I hope you will watch this show and experience that warmth and joy.”
