Golden week has begun. JR Okayama Station did not see much congestion in the morning.

The Nozomi train from Tokyo arrived at Okayama Station just after 9am. Since the end of last year, the “Nozomi” has been operating with “all reserved seats” during periods when congestion is expected, such as the year-end and New Year holidays, Golden Week, and Obon, and there was no congestion on the train in the morning.

(Woman from Osaka) “I thought it was great because I could get on the train right away without having to wait in line.”

(Woman from Tokyo)
“It’s a three-day weekend. I’m not connected. Tomorrow I’m going to Naoshima, and today is Venus Road.”

On the other hand, on the conventional lines, it was the first long holiday since the debut of the Hakubi Line’s “New Yakumo” on April 6th, and many railway fans and families gathered at the platforms.

(Mother going from Izumo City to Osaka)
“It was nice to be able to sit in the four-seater area and let the kids have a relaxing time.”

(Girl going from Izumo City to Osaka)“It was spacious enough to stretch out my legs.”

(Boy going from Shiga to Kojima, Kurashiki City) “It was fun, too.”

JR West estimates that congestion during Golden Week will peak on May 3rd for both Shinkansen and conventional lines, and May 6th for upbound Shinkansen lines and May 5th for conventional lines. I am calling.
