Warning of heavy snow from around the evening of January 24 in Fukuoka Prefecture Strongest cold wave Both flatlands and mountains may become heavy snow | Kurume Fan

--

According to the announcement by the Fukuoka District Meteorological Observatory, there is a risk of heavy snowfall in Fukuoka Prefecture from before noon on January 24, 2023 (Tuesday) to before noon on January 25, 2023, both in the plains and in the mountains.

In the northern part of Kyushu, the coldest air of this winter, with a temperature of -15°C or below, is expected to flow into the sky at an altitude of about 1,500 meters through January 25, and a strong winter-type pressure pattern is expected.

For this reason, Fukuoka Prefecture is likely to experience heavy snowfall from before noon on January 24th to before noon on January 25th, both on the plains and in the mountains.

At sea, very strong winds with snow will blow from before noon on the 24th to the beginning of the night on the 24th, and there will be places where it will break from mid-afternoon on the 24th to the morning of the 25th. Also, it is said that there will be places where the temperature will be considerably lower than normal until the 26th.

As of 6:00 am on January 24, 2023, heavy snow advisories, wind and snow advisories, lightning advisories, low temperature advisories, and snow accretion advisories have been issued for the Chikugo region, including Kurume City, Fukuoka Prefecture. It is highly likely that the heavy snow warning will be issued by the beginning of the night of January 24th.

Let’s be vigilant about traffic problems due to snowfall and road surface freezing, visibility problems due to snow, and the management of crops and agricultural facilities.

Also, watch out for frozen water pipes due to low temperatures, snow accretion on electric wires and trees, lightning strikes and gusts of wind.

West Nippon Expressway Co., Ltd. has announced the “Possible closed section” as of 1:00 on Tuesday, January 24th.
