Weather for 2 weeks: Snow clouds over western Japan on the 18th. Snowfall on the mountain passes. The season waxes and wanes. It will get colder around the 25th.
The seasons will come and go over the next two weeks. Tomorrow, the 18th, it will snow in some places in western Japan, and there will be snow on the mountain passes. Even in sunny areas, the wind is cool. Beyond that, the area will become sunny and the temperature will be on the rise. However, it gets really cold around the 25th.
Week 1: 18th (Sat) – 24th (Fri) Strong winds on Saturday and Sunday Snow in the mountains of western Japan
Tomorrow, the 18th (Saturday), a low pressure system will advance north of Hokkaido and develop.
As a result of this, strong winds will blow from the west over a wide area, especially in northern Japan. Most of the time it will be cloudy and rainy in the morning. Kyushu, Chugoku, Shikoku, and the northern Kinki region will experience strong cold air (about -3℃ to -6℃ at an altitude of 1,500m) flowing into Kyushu, Chugoku, Shikoku, and the northern Kinki region, so snow will fall in the mountains and accumulate in more places. Vehicles traveling over mountain passes will likely need winter equipment. In particular, the Chugoku Mountains are likely to experience heavier snowfall, leading to a sudden increase in snowfall. Snow clouds will temporarily cover the flatlands, and it looks like some places will experience their first snowfall. In the afternoon, the weather on the Pacific side will improve, but there will be widespread rain on the Japan Sea side of Honshu, and the rain may become heavier with thunder.
On the 19th (Sunday), it will rain north of Hokuriku, mainly on the Sea of Japan side, and there will be snow in the mountains. The sun will reach areas west of the Kanto region, but the wind will feel cool.
From the 20th (Monday) to the 22nd (Wednesday), high pressure will cover the area, leading to widespread skies and maximum temperatures higher than normal. Temperatures west of the Kanto region will be around 20 degrees Celsius, which means you won’t have to wear a jacket during the day.
On the 23rd (Thursday: Labor Thanksgiving Day), a low pressure system and front passed through, causing rain in places north of Hokuriku. Cold air will move in on the 24th (Friday), and temperatures will drop significantly across the country.
2nd week: 25th (Saturday) – 30th (Thursday) It will get colder nationwide on Saturday and Sunday. It will snow even on the flatlands in northern Japan.
On the 25th (Saturday) and 26th (Sunday), snow will fall in Hokkaido and Tohoku, especially on the Sea of Japan side. In Sapporo and other parts of Hokkaido, the temperature does not rise much during the day, and there are likely some places that do not even reach 0℃ (midwinter days). Hokuriku is also cloudy, with rain and snow in places. Temperatures will also be lower than normal in areas west of the Kanto region, which are marked as sunny. The wind will blow from the north or west, making it feel even colder.
From the 27th (Monday) onward, there will be cold rain in areas north of Hokuriku, especially on the Sea of Japan side, and snow may fall even on the flatlands of Hokkaido. The Kanto region and westward are mostly sunny, with daytime temperatures reaching nearly 20℃ on some days. However, it can get cold in the mornings and evenings, so please choose your clothes carefully.
