(Reuters) – Former U.S. President Donald Trump on the 25th criticized the ongoing peaceful protests on university campuses across the United States over the Israeli military’s attack on Gaza, calling them a “monstrous act of hate.”
With the presidential election in November approaching, Trump has targeted President Biden, who is seeking re-election, as the person responsible for the university protests. He made the remarks to reporters after appearing at a trial in a New York state district court in a case related to the alleged affair.
Trump also cited an incident in 2017, when Trump was in office, when a car plowed into white supremacist protesters in Charlottesville, Virginia, resulting in casualties. He said it was a “minor event” compared to the ongoing protests.
Trump faced harsh criticism for the incident, saying that white supremacists and counterprotesters were “both responsible.”
