The Japan Rugby Football Union (President: Masato Tsuchida, Minato-ku, Tokyo) has decided to hold the Japan Sevens 2024 on Monday, July 15th (public holiday) at the Chichibunomiya Rugby Stadium in Tokyo. ,i will let you know.

Japan Sevens 2024, which will be held for the first time in six years, is scheduled to have a total of 12 teams participating, including the Japan Rugby League One Team, working adults, universities, and clubs.

This year is the year the Paris Olympics will be held, and Japan’s men’s and women’s rugby sevens teams will be participating in rugby sevens.

This will be your chance to experience top-level seven-a-side rugby in Japan, and all seats will be free, so please take this opportunity to come to the venue.

*1. Participating teams will be the winning teams of each tournament or teams recommended by the organizer.

■Tournament format:

The 12 participating teams will be divided into two groups, each tournament will be held, and the group ranking in each group tournament will be determined. Afterwards, a ranking match will be held to determine the ranking of the tournament.

However, there will be no match for 5th or 7th place, and the 3rd place in each group will be tied for 5th place in the tournament, and the 4th place in each group will be tied for 7th place in the tournament.

■Award:Awards will be given to the winning and runner-up teams.

■Player qualifications:

(1) Player qualifications for this tournament are those who do not violate the Japan Rugby Football Association’s “Japan Association Regulations” and other enforcement regulations, and must also comply with the following special regulations and complete “Individual Player Registration”. Limited to those who have completed it.

(2) Based on World Rugby Rule 8 (Eligibility), foreign players are limited to those who are, or may be eligible in the future, to represent Japan.

(However, special rules regarding eligibility for participation in Olympic sports do not apply.)

b) One of the parents/grandparents was born in Japan.

c) Have lived in Japan continuously for 60 months

d) Have lived in Japan for a cumulative 10 years.

(3) Must be a member of Sports Safety Association Public Interest Incorporated Foundation or equivalent “Sports Safety Insurance.”

(4) If there is any doubt regarding player qualifications, the Japan Rugby Football Union will make a decision.

■Competition rules:

(1) According to the “2024 Competition Rules” (7-a-side competition rules) established by WR.

(2) Game time will be 7 minute halves (within 2 minutes of halftime).

(3) HIA will not be implemented and R&R (Recognize & Remove) will be applied.

(4) Apply a timekeeper system.

(5) If the score is tied at the end of each half, an overtime period of up to 5 minutes will be held, and the winner will be determined using the golden score method.

*Golden score method: The team that scores first becomes the winner immediately and the match ends.

(6) If the winner is not decided in the overtime of less than 5 minutes, the right to advance to the top spot will be determined by the following method.

① Team with the most tries.

② If the number of tries is the same, the team with the most goals after the try.

③ If the above cannot be determined, a lottery will be held.

④ In the final match, if the winner is not determined even after extra time, both teams will be declared winners, and the other ranking matches will be treated as the same ranking.
