--

On April 24th, individual developer Jiangli released the Dream Treatment Clinic Sim.chest“announced. The supported platform is PC (Steam). According to the Steam store page description, Japanese display will also be supported.

“Chest” is a first-person 3D simulation game about the treatment of a strange disease that makes it impossible to dream. The player aims to regain the lost ability to dream while staying in a treatment facility called “Chest” surrounded by white tiles.

The inside of the facility is filled with sunlight streaming in through the windows and ceiling and white fluorescent lights, giving it a tranquil beauty but also a somewhat unrealistic atmosphere. Leisure facilities such as a pool and water slide are also available, and the trailer shows that this building is intended for patients’ relaxation. The poolside floats and tropical-style trees emphasize the inorganic feel of the facility, giving it a slightly eerie feel.

Although details of the story and gameplay are shrouded in mystery at the time of writing, we can confirm the existence of two types of capsule medicine, red and blue, as items. It is said that by taking these medicines, it is possible to explore the space of “dreams”. The facility has at least two floors and players can walk around and explore it, but the trailer also features locations that appear to be outside the facility, such as tunnels, a hotel, and a red house surrounded by mountains. The story can be expected to unfold in multiple areas.

In addition, in some parts of the video, a timestamp is displayed on the screen and a white noise-like sound is heard, suggesting that the main character may be being monitored by someone. In addition to a scene in which an anime-like person wearing a dress suddenly appears in front of the seat of the boat, a UFO-like flying object also appears, and it is unclear whether it is a dream or reality due to paranormal phenomena. It stirs up the imagination.

According to the store page, this work is being developed in collaboration with Jiangli and publishing company GoodMon. Mr. Jiangli, who is based in Shanghai, China, will release the adventure game “Cave Fiction” on Steam in 2023, which is inspired by philosopher Plato’s “Cave Allegory.” Chest is the second game for the platform. Jiangli, who professes to be an “ex artist,” can view several of his past video works from the link posted on his official website. You can get a glimpse of his worldview, so if you’re interested, you should check it out.

“chest” is scheduled to be released for PC (Steam). According to the Steam store page, this work will also be available in Japanese.
