Developer Bolt Blaster Games announced on April 23rd the online multiplayer roguelite “The Spell Brigade“announced. The supported platform is PC (Steam). According to the store page, the game supports Japanese display.

“The Spell Brigade” is a so-called survivor-type action game with roguelike elements for up to four players. Players play as wizards and fight by combining spells with various elements. By combining spells to create a variety of synergies, you will be able to defeat the large number of enemies rushing in from all directions.

A major feature of this work is cooperative multiplayer for up to four people. And even though it is a cooperative play, it probably uses a so-called friendly fire system, where your own attacks will also hit your allies. With the existence of this system, it seems that positioning and timing will become more important when releasing spells. It looks like you’ll be able to enjoy a lively multiplayer game in which you play while being surrounded by enemies, helping each other, or holding each other back when they interfere.

During the early access distribution period, basic gameplay is already possible. Specifically, 8 wizards, 3 worlds, 9 types of enemies, 4 elements, and 33 spells can be used. There will be an early access distribution period of about 8 months before the official release. In the meantime, characters, spells, and enemies will be added to improve replayability.

The developer, Bolt Blaster Games, is an indie studio based in Belgium. The studio is being developed by six people, and in the past they released the VR-only roguelite shooter “GAZZLERS”. It is said that the experience of receiving feedback from the community on previous works has been utilized in this work as knowledge of the roguelite genre. In addition, this work is scheduled to start early access distribution in 2024, and is currently working on the development of a demo version.

“The Spell Brigade” is scheduled to be released on PC (Steam). Early access is scheduled to begin in 2024.
