Pickering Interfaces (Clacton-on-Sea, UK), a leading provider of modular signal switching and simulation solutions for electrical test and verification, introduces high-density PXI/PXIe multiplexer (MUX) modules for high-voltage applications. We have announced a new family. 40-321-1xx (PXI) and 42-321-1xx (PXIe) expand Pickering’s high voltage switching product lineup (https://www.pickeringtest.com/ja-jp/product/40-321-100- hi-high-voltage-mux-dual-4channel-1pole) are 1-pole or 2-pole multiplexers available in various numbers of banks and channels. Capable of hot or cold switching up to 1000VDC or 1000VAC peak, all products use high quality reed relays.

The MUX series is available in 20 different module configurations. With 4 to 48 channels, 1 to 6 banks, and 1- or 2-pole switching options, you can tailor your switching solution to your test system requirements. The MUX series can be optionally populated with single- or dual-slot-wide PXI modules and transmits high-voltage signals through one or two front-panel-mounted D-type connectors. Pickering offers a full range of compatible standard and custom cables, connectors and breakouts to support the new family.

Ideal for high-voltage applications such as circuit board insulation testing, relay testing, semiconductor breakdown monitoring, and cable and harness insulation testing, this product lineup uses high-quality ruthenium relays from Pickering Electronics, a group company specializing in relays. This improves hot switching from the traditional 750V to 1kV and cold switching to 1kV. The miniature instrumentation-grade reed relays used in the design offer long service life and excellent low-signal level performance, as well as the benefits of high density. In addition, all modules are equipped with RFI suppression circuitry to extend relay contact life during hot switching and suppress surges due to high voltage transients during cold switching. This suppressor allows safe operation when connected to high voltage sources through cable assemblies that may have transients or radio frequency interference.

Steve Edwards, Switching Product Manager at Pickering This doubles the switch payload. It uses high-quality reed relays from Pickering Electronics, a group company specializing in relays, and is capable of hot/cold switching up to 1kV at 10W. It has a maximum current of 1.25A and comes with a hardware interlock to ensure safety.”

The hardware interlock included with all series is used to prevent switch operation until an interlock signal is present. It can also be used as a “deactivation” function that returns all feature switches to their default de-energized state, protecting the test system and operators. Interlock signals can be daisy-chained between modules, allowing independent or linked operation. The 4x-321 module is supported by Pickering’s eBIRST test tool, which can be used for preventive maintenance testing to determine when a relay is nearing the end of its life. eBIRST also enables early detection of failures, minimizing system downtime. Each module is equipped with a spare relay for easy field service by the user.

The 4x-321 comes with drivers and can be supported by common software programming environments and operating systems. Pickering Interface carries a standard 3-year warranty and long-term product support guarantee on all products.
