“Blooming with You ~Shinsengumi Seishunroku~” is a major project that will be the first video adaptation of Osamu Tezuka’s hidden masterpiece “Shinsengumi” and will be broadcast over two consecutive seasons. Although many historical figures appear, the main characters are two young soldiers who are drawn as original characters, Daisaku Kamagiri (Kentaro Maeda) and Okijuro Fukakusa (Tomoya Oku). Although the two share a passionate friendship, they are at the mercy of the times and eventually come to blows with each other.

The harsh fate of these two people is beautifully and vividly portrayed by up-and-coming screenwriter Aya Tsubota, known for the “Beautiful Girlfriend” series, and Hayato Kawai, who was behind the scenes in “10 Counts to the Future” (TV Asahi). . In addition, the film depicts the youth of the Shinsengumi members who ran through the end of the Edo period like a flash of light and was fleetingly scattered, with an unprecedented perspective and style, incorporating innovative sword fighting performances and elegant sword dances not found in traditional historical dramas. Write emotionally.

On the day of the press conference, it was a clear day in Kyoto without a single cloud. The cast appeared on set under the blue sky in matching haori and performed a brilliant sword dance as the opening act. The crowd of 100 spectators and reporters was overwhelmed, and the event became a huge success from the start. After finishing the sword dance, Maeda greeted the audience breathlessly, saying, “We were really nervous, but I think our sincerity showed through.” Oku also started the press conference by saying, “I think this was the best performance I’ve ever had!” with a look filled with a sense of accomplishment.

It seems that a strong bond has been formed between the cast members, who work hard every day not only in acting but also in sword fighting and sword dancing, and at press conferences, whenever someone is out of touch, someone will chide in, and it’s a constant struggle. In particular, Mokuyo was often criticized for having a sharp tsukkomi. The two leads said in unison that the atmosphere on set was “like a club activity,” and Mokuyo said, “Right now, there’s a gym boom in the Shinsengumi, and everyone is training hard, so everyone’s in great shape.” ”, introducing the current trends. On days off from filming, each member says, “(Shoji) I went to USJ with Kohei-kun” (back) and “I went on a date with Katsuta Hadani at an art museum” (Mokuyo). It has also been revealed that he spends his private life going wherever he wants.

–What are your impressions after performing the sword dance?
After finishing the sword dance, I’m feeling a little out of breath right now… (lol). I was really nervous because I never thought I would have the opportunity to perform Kenbu in front of everyone, but I think that my sincerity was conveyed.

――It’s been two months since filming started, what’s the atmosphere like on set?
The cast members are of a similar generation, so they get along really well, and it’s like a club activity. The Shinsengumi is also a gathering of young people, so I was photographing it feeling like I was recapturing my nostalgic youth, wondering if this was what the atmosphere was like in real life.

–What was the most difficult scene?
From the first episode, there is a scene where he fights Okunjuro, played by Okkun (=Tomoya Oku). I can’t say yet how this scene will be related to the future story, but the two of us worked together for two or three months before filming started, so I think it turned out really well. I hope you look forward to it.

–What are the key points about costumes?
The main point of the costume for the big movie I play is this stole. It’s really hot though (lol). I think the stall is what sets me apart from everyone else, so please pay attention to it. I also think that the striped pattern on the kimono brings out its individuality.

–What kind of song is the opening theme “Flame”?
It’s a cool song with a sense of speed. It really matches the atmosphere of “Yukite Saku with You” and the dance is really cool. Please look forward to it.

–What kind of choreography is the Tiktok dance for the ending theme “Yume HANABI”?
The choreography is easy to imitate and dance to, so please dance cutely! I would be happy if you would post a lot with “#KimiyukiDance”.

–What about your own “youth”?
When I think back to my school days, all I remember is club activities. Actually, I’d like to talk about a story about how I was popular, but I was in club activities 365 days a year in junior high and high school, so the only time I felt like I was young was when I worked up a sweat in club activities (lol).

–If you could describe the character you play in one word, how would it be?
“Secret Swordsman”. Daisaku is a mysterious character with a secret, so… This secret will be important in future developments, so I hope you will pay attention to the characters in the masterpiece.

–Many of you are former Kamen Riders, but do you have any experience with special effects?
Certainly, there are many people I have met. Not only Okkun, who co-starred with me in Kamen Rider Revise, but Taro Hiiragi was also working on Sentai Hero at the same time, and Maito (Fujioka) also co-starred in the movie… I first met Okkun when he was 16 years old, and I think he has grown up a lot. I feel like I’ve been with Mokkun (Kazuto Mokuyo) for a long time, but this is the first time we’ve acted together.

–Message.
At this press conference, I was able to speak in front of everyone before the drama started, and I felt energized. We will use this as inspiration for future filming, so please look forward to the drama’s broadcast.

–What are your impressions after performing the sword dance?
I thought sword dancing would only be performed in the main story, but I never expected to perform it in front of the audience…! I was very nervous, but I think everyone had a great time together. I think this was the best performance I’ve ever seen.

――It’s been two months since filming started, what’s the atmosphere like on set?
Keiko, a sword dancer, also came here with a club-like atmosphere. Every day we all help each other out while filming! On my day off, I went to USJ (Universal Studios Japan) with Kohei (Shoji). It was so much fun!

――How did you feel at that time when you participated in the final screening of “The Life-Changing Shin Historical Drama Audition “Maken SHINKEN” ~The Road to the Shinsengumi~”?
My first impression of Hatani (Katsuta) is that he is a bright and kind-looking older brother. I have the impression that Taro Hiiragi is both energetic and kind. But the looks on Ueno Gai-kun and Kohei-kun’s faces were really scary… Kohei-kun is nearly 190cm tall, so to me he was a “giant” and I was like, “This guy is scary!” At that time, I never imagined that we would end up going to USJ together (lol). I’m surprised that everyone’s impressions are so different from the first (lol).

–What are the key points about costumes?
The kimono is light blue with a cute floral pattern, and the collar is asymmetrical with navy blue and black. Also, the orange and white hakama is really cute. The ribbon (braid) used to tie the hair is also the same color as the kimono.

–What kind of song is the ending theme song “Yume HANABI”?
It’s a song that is both refreshing and cute, and suits us well (lol). The catchy melody makes it easy to dance to, and there are lots of cute choreography, so please imitate it!

–What about your own “youth”?
My youth is a “game”. Throughout elementary, middle and high school, I always played games after school. I would sometimes get together with friends and play alone.

–If you could describe the character you play in one word, how would it be?
The character I play, Okajuro, is a straight-up “wild boar.” In the movie, Okajuro is compared to a boar, and I think this word well represents Okajuro’s straightforward personality.

–Message.
This is a work that tries out a variety of new things, such as sword dances and actors singing and dancing the opening and ending scenes. All of the production staff, including the cast, are working hard every day on filming, so please look forward to it!
