The sports drama “Fantastic 5: Passionate Para-Athletes” from the producers of the popular Italian drama “DOC: Asue no Karte” will be broadcast for the first time in Japan on NHK General TV from Sunday, June 9th.

Sports drama that begins ahead of the Paris Olympics

The sports drama, which will be aired in 2024 before the opening of the Paris Olympics on July 26th, was just aired in its home country of Italy in January of this year. It is produced by Luca Bernabei, who also worked on “DOC”, which is currently being remade in the United States.

Riccardo, the main character of “Fantastic 5: Passionate Para-Athletes,” used to be the coach of the national team, but for some reason he resigned and now coaches young children with the motto of “having fun winning.” In his personal life, his ex-wife passed away and he has just become a single father, taking in her two daughters who were living with her in Germany. He tries to communicate with his adolescent daughters, but both of them are rebellious, believing that the divorce was due to their father neglecting the family.

Riccardo receives an offer to coach the para-athlete team “Nova Lux.” His job is to get the players to compete in the European Championships, which is just three months away. Riccardo accepts the offer and takes his daughters to the coastal town of Ancona, where the team is located.

He is immediately introduced to the four top players, but the star players have a lot of pride and are reluctant to accept Riccardo as their coach. What’s more, even though I was told that it was a two-year contract as a coach, the president, Sophia, said he only needed three months until the championship. Before long, problems are discovered among the players one after another… Will Riccardo, who has a difficult future ahead of him, be able to unite the team?

The main character Riccardo is played by Italian actor Raul Bova (“Tuscan Holiday”, “From Rome to Happiness”). Chiara Boldi, who plays the role of Laura, a para-athlete, lost her lower left leg in an accident, and now works as a model and actor while wearing a prosthetic leg.
