The 2023-2024 drama season is coming to an end, and many of the shows are doomed to be renewed for the next season or canceled. Meanwhile, it has been decided that “The Equalizer” will be continued for a fifth season at CBS in the US, of the two remaining works whose departure has not yet been determined. US Deadline reports.

Is “NCIS: Hawaii” the final chapter even if it is updated?

“The Equalizer” is a popular series that was also made into a movie starring Denzel Washington, based on “The Secret Hunter,” which aired in the 1980s. The series, which began in 2021, is a popular show on CBS, with 7.89 million viewers per episode, making it the eighth most-watched non-sports program. For this reason, it was thought that the project was likely to be renewed, but the announcement was delayed because contract negotiations with Queen Latifah, who will star and serve as executive producer, were not finalized. The reason the negotiations took so long was because Queen wanted the season to have at least 20 episodes (Season 2 and 3, which were not affected by the coronavirus and Hollywood strikes, totaled 18 episodes), but in the end, season 5 was also canceled. It looks like there will be a total of 18 episodes.

“The Equalizer, led by Queen Latifah, has all the ingredients for a powerful drama: suspense, heroism, high-stakes plot twists, and compelling characters,” said Amy Reichenbach, president of CBS Entertainment. We look forward to delivering another dynamic season.”

With the recent renewal of “The Equalizer,” “NCIS: Hawaii” is the only role on CBS whose departure has not yet been decided. According to Deadline, the prospects for the series to be renewed for a fourth season are not bright. Speaking of the “NCIS” series, the original series “NCIS” and “NCIS Sydney” have already been renewed for new seasons, and the prequel spin-off “NCIS: An untitled spin-off starring Tony and Ziva is also in production. Therefore, it appears that the NCIS series is considered enough. Even if season 4 of “NCIS: Hawaii” is decided to be produced, it will be the final season, and the number of episodes may be drastically reduced from the previous 22 episodes to 13 or less.

On CBS, “NCIS”, “NCIS: Sydney”, “Tracker”, “Fire Country”, “Ghosts”, and “FBI Special” will be released on CBS. Detective Unit,” “FBI: Most Wanted,” “FBI: International,” “SWAT,” and “Elsbeth” have been renewed for new seasons. “Young Sheldon”, “Blue Bloods”, “CSI: Vegas”, and “So Help Me Todd” have all ended their series.

Seasons 1 and 2 of “NCIS: Hawaii” are currently available on Hulu. (Foreign Drama NAVI)
