[ニューヨーク 3日 ロイター] – Protests against Israel are spreading at universities across the United States over the attack on the Palestinian autonomous region of Gaza. While students have set up tents on campus to advocate for Palestine, the university has also moved to exclude these students, and many have been arrested.
In California, students at the prestigious University of California, Berkeley, collaborated with students from other universities to set up tents. The campus of Caltech Humboldt in Arcata, California, was closed after pro-Palestinian demonstrators occupied buildings on the campus.
At Minnesota State University, police removed tents at the university’s request. New protests erupted at New York University on the night of the 22nd after more than 120 demonstrators were arrested, according to the New York Police Department. More than 100 students were arrested at Columbia University last week.
Columbia University, Yale University, New York University and other institutions have made hundreds of arrests since the 19th.
On the 22nd, New York University announced that it would cancel face-to-face classes due to rising tensions within the school, and that classes would be held both face-to-face and online for the rest of the year.
