On the 24th, Wacom Corporation announced the Wacom Movink 13, a 13.3-inch pen tablet that is the first to use an organic EL display. It is scheduled to be released at the Wacom Store, and the price is 118,800 yen.

The company also announced the launch of Wacom Movink, a new brand of organic EL pen tablets. Like the Wacom Cintiq Pro, it is a professional brand, but unlike the Wacom Cintiq Pro, which is a stationary flagship product, it will be a thin and lightweight model that is suitable for carrying.

New development of Wacom Movink brand

Wacom Movink 13 is a 13.3-inch pen tablet that uses an organic EL display that supports full HD (1,920 x 1,080 dots) display. It has a non-glossy surface finish and is equipped with anti-fingerprint glass.

The adoption of organic EL has made it significantly thinner and lighter, and compared to the company’s previous thinnest and lightest model “Wacom One 13 touch,” the thinnest part is 66% thinner at 4 mm. The weight is 55% lighter at 420g. In addition, the misalignment (parallax) between the pen tip and the screen is the lowest ever, and the display no longer changes when pressure is applied.

In addition, it has acquired Eye Care Display certification for low blue light, Pantone and Pantone SkinTone certification for color expression, and hardware calibration with Wacom Color Manager is also possible.

In addition to supporting 8,192 levels of pen pressure detection and 10-point multi-touch, the color gamut covers 100% DCI-P3 and 95% Adobe RGB. The number of display colors is 1,073,740,000, the contrast ratio is 100,000:1, and the refresh rate is 60Hz.

On both sides of the main body, there are tablet buttons that can be assigned OSD menus, multi-touch function on/off, and shortcut keys. The interface is USB Type-C x 2.

The included items include the Wacom Pro Pen 3, which can now store a refill inside, and a thinner and softer USB Type-C cable. Optional items sold separately include the foldable stand “Wacom Foldable Stand” (12,980 yen) and the special case “Wacom Movink Tablet Sleeve” (7,480 yen).

Wacom Movink 13 is lightweight and has a beautiful screen.

At the Wacom Movink 13 press conference, designer Tomoyuki Arima appeared as a guest and talked about the experience of using this product. Mr. Arima’s first impression of the Wacom Movink 13 was that it was lightweight, and said it was convenient because it could be easily handed out during collaborative work or meetings.

He also cited the organic EL display’s ability to distinguish minute differences in color and the absence of parallax as features. According to him, the Wacom Movink 13 is suitable not only for graphic designers but also for users who design interactions, such as game UI designers.
