It was announced on the 25th that the nine-member girl group Kep1er, which was born from the survival audition program “Girls Planet 999: Girls’ Festival” (hereinafter referred to as “Girls Planet”) that was broadcast in South Korea in 2021, will disband in July as originally planned. , Korean media Star News reported.

According to the article, Kep1er will return to their respective agencies after 2 years and 6 months of activities in July. Before the end of their activities, they plan to release an album and hold a concert to give their final greetings to their fans.

Kep1er is a nine-member multinational group (Korea, Japan, China, and America) born from Girls Planet. Their 1st mini album “FIRST IMPACT” was released in January 2022, and the title song “WA DA DA” attracted a lot of attention. Since then, despite being a limited group for a short period of time, they have continued to achieve remarkable results in the global music market, so much so that last year, the main managers of each agency met together to discuss extending the project’s activities.

In addition, Kep1er’s agency WAKEONE also revealed that before the contract expired, “we will continue to mutually discuss extending our activities.”

Up until now, groups such as Wanna One and IZ*ONE have been born from audition programs and have gained tremendous popularity, but the group’s activities have never been extended. If Kep1er’s contract extension were to materialize, it would be the first example of a contract extension, so both agencies were considering it as positively as possible. However, the fans’ wishes were in vain, and it was decided to disband as planned.

Kep1er will release their first Japanese full-length album “Kep1going” on May 8th.
