On the 23rd, Okinawa Prefectural High School Athletic Federation Chairman Toshio Shiroma (Principal of Urasoe High School) and others visited the Ryukyu Shimposha in Izumizaki, Naha City and talked about their aspirations for the new year. Tomomi Kagawatori (teacher at Tomigusho Minami High School) became the first woman to serve as president, and Ryo Chibana (teacher at Nishihara High School) became the secretary general.

President Shiroma said, “The students’ achievements are featured in the paper, and this is connected to the students’ vitality.I would like to run the organization while also incorporating President Kagatori’s perspective as a woman.” Chairman Kagawatori said, “Competitive events such as naginata, tennis, and weightlifting are promising this year as well.I want to do my best to support the success of other athletes as well.” Vice President Tetsu Nayuki (Principal of Oroku High School) and Vice President Hikaru Ujihara (Principal of Ishikawa High School) were also present.

The Prefectural High School Comprehensive Athletic Meet will begin in earnest on May 31st with an opening ceremony. Preliminary competitions will begin on the 18th with boxing, cycling, and canoeing, followed by table tennis, badminton, judo, karate, track and field, tennis, water polo, and golf. The opening ceremony will be held on May 31st at the Prefectural Sports Park Recreation Dome in Okinawa City.
