A documentary film has been completed that follows the daily life of a girl with severe epilepsy and intellectual disabilities and her family for more than 40 years. “I love you ~50 years of Nao-chan and her mother~” Director Shinichi Ise (75) says, “I continued filming as I was drawn to Mei’s zest for life.The family’s journey is a message about the importance of life.”

◆The culmination of the series

The camera captures the tears, laughter, and worries of the Ise director’s niece Nao Nishimura (50), her mother Nobuko (80), father Onori (78), and younger brother Kiichi (47). Conflicts and conflicts are shown as they really are.

The “Nao-chan Series,” which began with the first work “Nao-chan,” which depicts Nao’s life up until she reaches her coming-of-age ceremony at the age of 20, has produced four works so far. The new work “I love you~” can be said to be a culmination of his work.

Nao, who was told by doctors that she would not live long, turned 50, and Nobuko, who is 80 years old, has reached the age where she is conscious of the end of her life. Director Ise said, “A mother struggled for her daughter’s growth and, with the support of the local community, started a social welfare corporation.The film served as an opportunity for everyone to think about creating a society where everyone can live comfortably.” I want you to be like that.”

◆Final screening in Hibiya on April 27th and Yokohama on May 11th

The completion screening will be held at (1) April 27th from 11:00 a.m. at Hibiya Library and Culture Center B1F Convention Hall (Hibiya Park, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo); (2) May 11th from 10:30 a.m. at Yokohama City Izumi Public Hall ( At Izumi Chuo Kita 5), ​​Izumi Ward.

Both will feature a screening of the new film “I Love You”, a talk between director Ise and Nobuko Nishimura, and a screening of the first film “Nao-chan.” Admission fee is 3,500 yen for a one-day ticket (3,000 yen in advance) and 1,000 yen for people with disabilities.
