  • Although Israel and Iran have finally reached the point of directly attacking each other’s territory, looking back on history, as depicted in the Old Testament, relations between the two countries have been good for many years.
  • It was Persia that freed the Jews from the famous Babylonian captivity, and even after that, Persians and Jews coexisted in the Persian Empire.
  • Relations between Israel and Iran will not improve unless relations between the United States and Iran improve, but there is also the case of former President Obama, who signed the nuclear deal. We are looking forward to the emergence of a new leader who emphasizes dialogue.

The surprising relationship between Judea and Persia depicted in the Old Testament

“I’ve opened Pandora’s box.”

I’m sure many Middle East watchers feel this way. This is about Israel and Iran directly attacking each other’s territory.

An Israeli attack on the Iranian embassy in Syria has killed top military officials, including two generals from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. In retaliation for the attack, Iran fired back at Israel with more than 300 drones, injuring some people. There are also reports that Israel has also attacked Iran’s ancient capital Isfahan.

Israel and Iran, the two largest military powers in the Middle East and enemies, have repeatedly carried out assassinations and cyberattacks against each other. However, this is the first time for a direct military confrontation on the territory of another country.

Such reports may give the impression that Iran and Israel are sworn enemies. However, this is not necessarily true historically. In this article, I would like to look back at the history of Iran and Israel and look for some hints for a way out of this difficult situation.

It is well known that the Jews living in Israel have a long history dating back to the times of the Old Testament. The Persians living in Iran are also an old nation with a history dating back to BC, having fought in the Persian Wars with ancient Greece.

The two ethnic groups, who have such a long history, have never been at war or had a tense relationship for a long time. In fact, there was a long period of time when it could be said to be good.
