On April 25, jockey Christophe Lemaire, a Ritto free skater who is resting after sustaining an injury from a fall from a horse at the Dubai Turf on March 30, expressed his thoughts on French jockey Olivier Perrier, who has been reported to be retiring.
Commenting on the world-famous jockey, who is also from France and has won four Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe and three consecutive Arima Kinen victories, Lemaire said, “Olivier is a legend. He won almost every big race in the world.Especially in Japan, when short-term licenses were just starting. He was a pioneer among foreign jockeys. He was a great jockey. His physicality was amazing.”
He was a great influence on my riding style and served as a role model. “I watched his races closely and studied them. I remember them well. When I first came to Japan and walked with him, I was surprised because everyone recognized him (Perrier). I felt how famous he was in Japan. I will miss you,” he said, expressing his feelings of farewell.
On this day, I attended a press preview of the Hankyu Umeda main store pop-up store of the apparel brand “CL by C. Lemaire” that I launched.
