How to deal with the “ghost touch” issue where your Apple Watch moves on its own even when you’re not touching it | Lifehacker Japan

--

The Apple Watch is a great little device. I love my Apple Watch and rarely go out without it.

However, as with most technologies, problems can occur. Especially recently,Many Apple Watch users are reporting an ongoing issue called “ghost touch.”I’m having an issue where the screen responds even when I haven’t touched it.

This problem does not only affect users with older models. It is also affecting users with the latest Apple Watch.

The problem of ghost touch is not entirely new. Reports have been coming out for at least the past few years.Apple has not yet publicly disclosed the cause.

In most cases, this problem is just a nuisance, butThis is especially true if you use the “delete if incorrect code entered” security setting.

I also recently faced this issue with my Apple Watch Ultra 2. All of a sudden, my watch’s display started acting weird and cycling through different apps and options. I tried to turn off the power, butI can’t swipe “power off” from the touchscreen due to ghost touch.

What to do when ghost touch occurs

So what should we do in this situation?

Fortunately, there is a way to hard reset your Apple Watch without using the screen.

Simply press and hold the Digital Crown and the side button below it until the watch turns off and you see the Apple logo on the screen.

“Turn off and turn on again”While this may seem like an unreliable workaround, it is actually Apple’s “official” solution.

The only problem isThe thing is, this doesn’t always work.. Some users have reported that the problem recurs even after a hard reset.

Unfortunately, if a hard reset doesn’t fix the problem, the only solution is to try it repeatedly. There is no other fix at this time.

Also, considering it’s been almost two years since the issue first appeared on the Apple Watch Series 7, it’s unlikely that Apple will provide a fix anytime soon.
