Hello everyone, this is Mami Okumura! This week, we will continue to play “Rockman 2 Dr. Wily’s Mystery”, the second game in the series included in “Rockman Classics Collection”. The original Famicom version was released in 1988, and the collection can be purchased on Steam for 2,547 yen.

I use Mouse Computer’s “G-Tune E4-I7G60DB-B” to play retro games.Main specifications include Core i7-12650H, 16GB of memory, GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop, SSD 500GB, and 14-inch full HD/144Hz LCD.

Until the last time, I finished everything except the final boss stage. The final boss stage is further divided into several parts, and I was just starting to realize how long it was going to be… For the first stage of the last boss, I only completed the strategy along the way, so this time I’ll start again with the strategy for the subsequent boss!

Confront the dragon in a narrow space. The dragon moves up and down and breathes fire. I had decided to go with Heatman here, so he equipped himself with Heatman’s weapon. Heatman seems to be able to charge and attack, but I can’t charge properly and it ends up being a normal attack. So, just keep hitting it.

I didn’t notice it last time, but I have to move to the next platform as the dragon moves. Furthermore, the length of the fire that blows changes exquisitely, so the timing of the jump to avoid it is also important. The foothold is narrow, so if you get hit by the fire once, you’ll fall straight to the bottom. I remember that I couldn’t take much damage unless I aimed at the dragon’s head…

I’m so desperate while I’m playing, that my memory sometimes gets fuzzy when I write articles like this (lol). I thought the shortest way was to get used to the movement, and after trying many times, I was finally able to defeat the dragon!

Even though I can barely move, it’s hard for me to have to keep hitting the ball.

Follow this flow to the second stage. It has a different impression from the previous stage. At the beginning, the robots we’ve seen before fall from above. This can be dealt with immediately with Airman’s wind. However, when I look at the options, the weapon gauge has not recovered and seems to be a continuation from the previous stage.

However, the good news is that there are many gauge recovery items in this stage. I was surprised to see so many extra machines and E cans. It seems important to know which gauge to recover, where and how much. I’ll tell you more about my strategy for recovering the gauge later.

Next is a place where the bottom is full of needles and there is no foothold for a while. I thought maybe… so I used a weapon that moves horizontally. It was a great answer. Continue moving horizontally like this for a while.

While riding, a robot may fall at the right moment and reach you, and you may end up being dropped by the needle. Before riding there, calm down and eliminate any suspicious robots that might fly at you first. Go forward and there will be two ladders at the top. I didn’t notice the first ladder and jumped from the beginning to the second one, but it turns out I was right. I’m lucky (lol).

When I get tired, I can’t get on the ladder properly…

And there is a relief zone lined with items, so you can’t go wrong with the recovery target. I wonder which weapons I’ll use and how often…

I used it on the needle for now, so the horizontal movement weapon gauge is zero at this point.

Next, all you have to do is move down, but there will be enemies that will shoot bullets from the side. If you get hit, you’ll fall down and die instantly in the next zone, so make sure you don’t get hit. However, I would like to get the E-can and one additional item… However, this item is hidden behind a sturdy-looking wall.

When I was wondering what they would use to break down this wall, I remembered Crashman’s bomb. It was completely my idea, but I was right, and this bomb broke the wall and I got two items safely! By the way, here I tried using Flashman’s time-stopping weapon, but the gauge was low, so I didn’t think so. It wasn’t as active as it was (;∀;).

After that, it’s the needle zone again. If you get hit by a bullet in the previous zone, you’ll fall straight into this needle (lol).

This space where you can’t see what’s next, where there’s no ladder and you can just fall down, is the scariest.

Then, as I saw recently, I went to a zone where drills were coming out from above and below. This is easy as you just have to wait for the right timing.

And then there is the zone where machines with needles fall from above. There were two difficult parts here. First, you must use either a vertical movement or a bound movement weapon. At first, I used vertical movement because there was a height to overcome the machine, but my weapon often ran out before I could reach the top…

I had enough gauge for the bouncing weapon, so I used bouncing here. The second thing is that this machine is continuous. The space between the two machines is narrow, but if I’m not too careful I might end up hitting the needle, so I somehow managed to get in between them.

After this, the bottom is the needle zone again. There was an item on the way that would recover a lot of HP, so I went to get it with a horizontal movement weapon.

After this was the boss, so let’s take a look back at the journey up to this point and explain about the gauge recovery for personal weapons that I mentioned earlier.

First, the gauge recovery items in the first two locations will recover the bouncing weapon so that it can be used at the falling needle machine. When I mentioned the relief zone that appears after a sudden horizontal movement, you can reach Flashman’s time stop weapon to avoid being hit by bullets in this next zone, and the HP recovery item before the boss. Weapons that move sideways and weapons that move bound will recover a little more.

Of course, it may change depending on the gauge situation at the time, but the basics are like this. The reason I can recover after thinking this much is because I have played this stage many times… I’m impressed (/ω\).

Now, it’s finally time for the boss! Considering the atmosphere of the stage, I expected it to be a tough boss. If it’s a robot type, I’ll start with Airman, and if it’s mechanical, I’ll use Metalman to counter it.

However, when I actually entered, it was a strange space. For the important boss, two pink floors and walls suddenly appear and combine. It doesn’t attack you in particular, but it moves toward you, so you just have to attack to avoid getting hit.

Since he was mechanical, he attacked with Metal Man’s gears, but it was just okay. Since they were coming towards me, I purposely moved just before them so that they wouldn’t hit me when they came towards me. It was a bit of a long battle, but before I knew it, I had cleared the second stage boss with ease!

This time I defeated two bosses and it felt like it was a lot of work, but I was able to finish it easily for the first time in a while because I was able to finish it quickly! It looks like the final boss fight will continue, so please continue to the next one. I’ll do my best! This culmination stage might be more fun than when I was doing each stage (^^♪.
