This work is a completely original psychological suspense. In 2008, a series of murders occur, and the father of the main character, Aoi Kiryu (Nakamura), is arrested and leaves his hometown of Mochino. 16 years later, in 2024, Aoi returns to her hometown as a detective in order to find out the truth about her past and prove her father’s innocence. Even though she is being watched by her buddy Kosaka Kei (Yokoyama), she pursues the truth.

Aoi thinks about the truth behind the murder of Wakana Umezaki (Yuka Mukaizato) and the true intentions of Sho Fuwa (Yoshihiko Hosoda) who confessed that he was the serial killer 16 years ago. As the first investigation team pursues Fuwa, who has run away, a video of Fuwa’s confession is shared online. Mochino Police Station is flooded with media outlets trying to ascertain the truth of Fuwa’s confession. Aoi declares to the press that she will “re-investigate the incident from 16 years ago.”

Kosaka and the other members of the first investigation section rebel against Aoi’s “runaway behavior.” Aoi appeals to Kento Ichijo (Takashi Okabe) that she wants to investigate an incident from 16 years ago, and Ichijo allows her to do so. While Aoi examines the investigation materials from that time, Kosaka keeps an eye on Aoi’s movements using her surveillance camera. Aoi realizes that important testimony supporting the charges against her father, Yasuo (Hasegawa Tomoharu), who was arrested for an incident 16 years ago, is missing.

Takuto Kizaki (Yoshiyuki Tsubokura) and Yasumasa Natsume (Kohei Higuchi) question Yuki Amakusa (Yuki Morinaga), who was helping Fuwa escape, but he denies being an accomplice.

Aoi and Kosaka visit a bar that Wakana used to frequent. According to the bar owner’s story, it turns out that Fuwa and Wakana often visited the bar together. Furthermore, he learns that Fuwa told Wakana, “I killed her sister.” Still, Aoi can’t believe that Fuwa committed the crime. Kosaka hears Aoi’s reasoning, and she tells him something unexpected.
